About the Position
We are seeking a high-energy, dedicated, and knowledgeable Pack & Pooch Experience Lead to champion the health, happiness, and engagement of our daycare and boarding pooches while guiding our team of Pooch Counselors. This role combines hands-on pack management, team mentorship, and client engagement, giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every single day.
Responsibilities
- Pack Management & Pooch Engagement Set the Tone for Play: Oversee playroom groups using positive body language, proper tools, and active observation to ensure safe, low-stress play dynamics.
- Health & Safety: Direct and supervise accurate feeding and medication protocols across the daycare and boarding operations.
- Team Leadership & Development: Train & Mentor: Administer the 5-module Daycare Handler Training and lead regular educational workshops for Pooch Counselors.
- Schedule & Balance: Collaborate with leadership to build balanced shift schedules that pair experienced counselors effectively, filling in coverage when needed.
- Performance Coaching: Conduct regular performance evaluations, offer constructive feedback, and support counselors in overcoming operational challenges.
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Assist management in hiring and onboarding passionate new team members.
- Client Communication & Culture Client Ambassador: Lead socialization meetings, prepare detailed dog report cards, and consult directly with owners regarding care, health, and behavior.
- Mission Champion: Serve as an ambassador for Urban Pooch’s core values, creating an empathetic, responsible, and upbeat environment.
What We Are Looking For
- Animal Care Experience: Prior professional or personal experience handling and caring for dogs.
- Canine Knowledge: Strong understanding of dog behavior, body language, pack dynamics, and safe correction techniques.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to coach team members, communicate effectively, and maintain a positive group culture.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with solid time-management skills.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Physical Capability: Ability to stay active, lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, and work comfortably in a dynamic, high-energy environment with group noise and cleaning solutions.
Schedule
- The schedule will be based on business needs, generally working five 8-hour shifts per week. Shifts may be scheduled between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., including morning, afternoon, or evening hours.
