WalkerScout is a recruiting and human resources solution for small businesses working with pets. We help independently owned-small businesses maintain, grow, and improve their teams. Since 2019, WalkerScout has been helping professional pet care companies throughout the United States build their dream team! We currently support over 40 businesses across, have recruited hundreds of candidates and our work has helped generate millions of dollar in revenue for our clients.
The position:
- Remote recruiter (capable of recruiting in the pet care and veterinary industries)
Compensation:
Staff average $20+ per hour (work is paid by service performed)
- $20 per conducted virtual interview (normally running 45-60 minutes).
- $10 per reviewed asynchronous interview (normally running 15-30 minutes).
- $25 per hired candidate (if you interview and pass a candidate who completes six months of work, you will have an additional $25 bonus).
- $10 per completed exit interview or coaching call (normally running 20-40 minutes).
- $7 per completed candidate screening appointment or professional reference submission (normally running 15 minutes).
- $5 per candidate summary (a brief email summarizing your appointment with a passing candidate)
- $6 per missed interview. If a candidate is not present for a scheduled interview or cancels/reschedules with less than one hour notice, you will still have the charge for being available and for attempting to contact them.
- Optional additional tasks would be paid at the rate of $20 per hour.
- Recruiters have grossed anywhere from $50 to $300+ in a week (all dependent on recruiter availability, number of candidates invited to interview, and the rate of candidates who attend, cancel, or no-show appointments). This is a position designed to act as supplemental income.
- A $600 commission (paid monthly as six $100 bonuses) is available to recruiters who refer the WalkerScout service to a new pet care business. We would handle the entire sales process. This is not a sales position, and would only want this to occur in natural conversation.
- Annual performance reviews with compensation increases based on performance.
*All work would be performed as an independent contractor
The responsibilities:
- Use JazzHR (applicant tracking software) to reference candidate contact information, resumes, and applications.
- Use Hireflix to review asynchronous interviews.
- Use Calendly (appointment scheduling software) to set your availability and track upcoming interviews.
- Perform recruiting interviews via Zoom (each client has its own template questions; you will be expected to have follow-up questions based on candidate answers). You can ask any relevant question, but every interview must be fair, welcoming, ethical, and compliant with legal hiring practices.
- Each interview concludes with a brief candidate/interview summary email sent to the client. Interviews are recorded via Grain and Zoom.
- Conduct coaching calls (reviewing worker job performance (per client notes), discussing company standard operating procedures, and developing goals for the future).
- Facilitate exit interviews (guided discussion with template questions, with the ability to delve deeper into worker feedback).
- All appointments may require you to document notes and create a transcript in Google Docs.
- Read and respond to emails in Gmail. Emails typically are regarding clients, candidates, and open positions. Emails will be limited.
- You may have the opportunity to perform additional tasks/duties, but it would be optional.
- Create invoices (sent via email) with the ability to accept direct deposit payments with a checking account.
- At WalkerScout, you can accept or deny any work opportunity. We do appreciate candidates who are willing to work with the majority of our client list.
The ideal candidate:
- Candidates with experience in professional pet care will have the greatest understanding of the majority of positions we recruit for. We recruit dog walkers, dog trainers, pet sitters, pet groomers, pet waste removal technicians, doggy daycare attendants, and administrators across the United States. Having an understanding and appreciation for pet-care-based work would be an advantage.
- Former small business managers or retail managers with hiring experience will quickly see our clients' perspectives (the owners of small pet care businesses). On average, most of the positions we recruit for are designed to be part-time, supplemental income positions. Our goal is not simply to grow the teams but to improve them. WalkerScout staff will invite the candidates you are scheduled to interview. You will need to use your best professional judgment if the candidate performing the interview has the potential to contribute to the client’s team.
- Anyone with strong time management, excellent listening, and phenomenal communication skills could excel in this position. The tone of the interviews should be professional but welcoming. The candidates must be relaxed and provide honest answers. Few questions have a right or wrong answer; this is more about getting to know candidates on a professional level and determining if they are the right candidates for our clients.
- Above all else, we would need the next recruiter to be honest, patient, and adaptable. We work with many clients, recruiting a variety of positions in different markets, and the candidates are all wonderfully unique.
The requirements:
- Please note, that there is no guarantee that a candidate will select an interview when you are available. No candidates can schedule an interview with less than a 24-hour notice (avoiding surprise appointments), and no interview can be scheduled beyond two weeks in advance. You can alter your availability as much as you would like, but we do ask that you block time off two weeks in advance (to avoid candidates rescheduling their appointments).
- You will need a computer with high-speed internet access and a webcam.
- A private, quiet, and dedicated space to conduct the appointments.
- Comfortable speaking with a wide variety of candidates, many of whom have a passion for animals.
- Ready to work remotely, independently, with little supervision.
- You have previous customer service experience and can communicate with clients, staff, and candidates in both written and spoken English.
- You must be 18 years or older and legally allowed to work in the US.
- You must be willing to submit to a work history verification, provide professional references, and complete a criminal background check.
