Maximum Canine Training & Wellness Center has been a trusted leader in canine training, wellness, and education since 2012. Based in Deer Park, Long Island, we provide professional dog training, retail nutrition, training products, and owner education.
In addition to our primary location, we operate a satellite training facility in Riverhead and manage Anita’s Nutrition—a premium dog nutrition line developed by certified veterinary nutritionists in collaboration with award-winning dog trainers.
With nearly 1,500 outstanding Google reviews and a growing team of 20+ onsite staff (plus support teams in bookkeeping, warehouse, and marketing), we are actively renovating and expanding.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Operations Manager to play a key role in scaling our operations, strengthening our systems, and leading our team into the next phase of growth. The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations, developing scalable systems, and leading team performance across multiple service areas, including retail, training, and canine care.
This is a highly collaborative, hands-on leadership role, working closely and hand-in-hand with existing management to guide the business forward. This position will place strong emphasis on the ability to guide, delegate, and collaborate effectively with staff at all levels.
As the company continues to grow, this role is expected to evolve over time, allowing the right candidate to expand responsibilities and make a meaningful impact in the areas where they excel most.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Identify inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure smooth daily operations across all service areas (retail, training, care)
Onsite Leadership
- Primarily based in Deer Park with coordination responsibilities for Riverhead
- Maintain strong familiarity with front desk and customer-facing workflows
- Step into operational roles as needed to evaluate and improve processes
- Troubleshoot service interruptions and operational bottlenecks
- Maintain flexibility to support peak service hours (including evenings/weekends)
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Guide, delegate, and collaborate with a team of ~20 staff and managers
- Work closely with existing leadership to align goals and execution
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
- Set clear expectations, enforce accountability, and uphold professional standards
- Address performance concerns and maintain workplace discipline
KPI Development & Reporting
- Define and track key operational metrics (labor hours, staffing efficiency, sales, utilization, productivity)
- Deliver weekly performance reports with actionable insights
- Identify gaps and implement corrective actions to improve performance
Multi-Location Coordination
- Align operations between Deer Park, Riverhead, and support teams
- Build scalable systems and workflows to support continued expansion
Customer Experience
- Ensure consistent, high-quality customer service standards
- Resolve operational issues that may impact client satisfaction
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in operations management (retail, service, or training environments preferred)
- Strong ability to build SOPs, KPIs, and operational systems from the ground up
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and driving accountability
- Comfortable working with data, reporting, and staffing models
- Tech-savvy with scheduling, reporting, and performance tools
- Hands-on leader who thrives in an active, fast-paced environment
- Highly disciplined, focused, and results-driven
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends as needed
Note: Experience in dog training, daycare, or pet retail is a plus but not required.
