We seek compassionate, responsible professionals in and near Metuchen, NJ, to provide pet owners with exemplary pet care and peace of mind.

About Us:

Metuchen Pet Club is a proud member of Pet Sitters International and the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. We are certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. Since 2018, Metuchen Pet Club has served Metuchen, Edison, and surrounding New Jersey communities.

Schedule

Staff must be available for at least one on of these shifts:
Monday through Friday 8 am to 1 pm
Monday through Friday 12:30 pm to 5pm
Thursday through Sunday 2 pm to 9 pm

Key Responsibilities:

Offer in-home pet services: walks, feeding, and medication administration.
Monitor pet health and behavior, reporting concerns to owners.
Follow client's instructions on pet routines and house protocols.
Maintain communication with clients via updates and photos after visits.
Ensure home security and perform light house-sitting tasks: collect mail, water plants, and manage garbage.
Perform cleaning duties, such as litter box maintenance and cleaning up after pets.

Requirements:

Every employee must have empathy and compassion for animals.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with dog handling and a general understanding of dog behavior.
Ability to care for various pets, including cats, dogs, small mammals, and reptiles.
Physical ability to walk, lift, and manage stairs.
Willingness to work in all four seasons.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in emergencies.
The ability to work without supervision and excellent time management skills.

What we offer:

Competitive pay starts at $16 per hour, plus client gratuity and bonus opportunities. Many staff members earn between $16 and $18 per hour.
During peak season some staff may earn $20 or more per hour after working with the team for 90 days
After 90 days, increased pay of $2 per visit on major holidays, for vacation visits.
This role is designed to be p/t and most staff work 10-20 hours weekly.
Paid training with performance reviews and opportunities for advancement.
A supportive management team providing a flexible part-time schedule.
