About
I've always believed that caring for animals goes beyond the basics of feeding and shelter — it's about understanding behavior, building trust, and creating environments where animals and people can thrive together.
With a B.S. in Animal Science from UC Davis and hands-on experience spanning shelter operations, animal behavior research, marine education, and community outreach, I bring a well-rounded perspective to animal care and welfare. Currently, I work at spcaLA in a dual capacity — monitoring animal health and assisting veterinary staff as an Animal Care Attendant, and counseling adopters and connecting families with their perfect match as an Animal Care Counselor. I also volunteer at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, where I combine my love of animals with public education on ocean conservation.
My background in research has given me a strong foundation in behavioral observation and data documentation. At UC Davis I scored over 115 hours of dairy cattle behavior footage using BORIS software through the Tucker Lab, and supported feed additive research by managing the care of 24 dairy cattle at the Mitlohner Lab CLEAR Center. These experiences sharpened my eye for detail and deepened my understanding of animal behavior at a scientific level.
A few things I'm especially proud of: developing and pitching an enrichment program to improve shelter animal well-being, coordinating the UC Davis FFA Field Day forestry competition in collaboration with park rangers and agriculture teachers, and managing a room of up to 50 dogs at once — yes, really, and loving every chaotic minute of it.
I'm bilingual in English and Spanish, which has been a genuine asset in connecting with the diverse communities I serve. I'm currently seeking opportunities in animal care, animal welfare, or animal education where I can keep growing and make a meaningful impact — whether in a shelter, clinic, research setting, or educational environment.
If you're working in the animal welfare space, I'd love to connect! 🐾
