The Big City Woof Walker
Dani Pedraza (CCDT) and Maren Lavelle have owned and operated Big City Woof Walkers since 2017. The owners started their work together locally as dog walkers in 2013. Because of their shared origins, Dani and Maren have a unique insight into the dog walking industry. They have placed a strong emphasis on safe walks while providing excellent care. We assign primary walkers to clients; we only offer private and small group walks, and all walkers benefit from our onboarding program. Big City Woof Walkers also provides industry-leading compensation for their growing dog-walking team.
The position:
- Professional dog walker with the ability to also care for cats. This role, in particular, will focus on smaller reactive dogs.
- Most work is scheduled Monday - Friday from 10am to 4pm. *We would strongly prefer a candidate with consistent Monday - Friday availability.
- We also have additional earning opportunities available evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- We service the Financial District, Battery Park City, Tribeca, Midtown, Upper West Side, and nearby communities.
Compensation:
$17- $25 / hour - higher wages are possible with efficient group dog walking or working off-peak hours
$800 - $1000 / month (earnings can increase once the new walker is onboarded and new clients are added to the route)

- Sign-on bonus after you complete the orientation process and begin services
- Additional bonuses at one-year
- This position would be offered as an independent contracting position.
The responsibilities:
- Create a safe and positive walking environment for our client's dogs
- Follow the client-provided care instructions, including training preferences
- Provide detailed and attentive care for our client's cats
- Give our clients first-class customer service with a personal touch
- Communicate with clients/staff/management with your smartphone (Slack, Time to Pet, text, and photographs)
- Contribute to the team effort by working as a team player
- Practice time management to ensure on-time arrivals for all assigned visits
- Travel to our office location upon request, located in Seaport
The ideal candidate:
- Please note in your application if you have prior personal/volunteer/professional experience caring for smaller, reactive, or special needs dogs. How can you help our client's pets stay healthy, safe and happy?
