Your next coworkers could have four paws!
Southern Bark Hospitality is hiring a part-time Midday Dog Walker to care for dogs in North Hills and North Raleigh, primarily in the 27609 and 27615 ZIP codes. Our clients count on us to give their dogs a welcome break while they’re at work. We’re looking for someone who takes that trust seriously—and enjoys making a dog’s day.
The Basics
Weekdays, approximately 10:30 a.m.–3 p.m.
Starting at $15/hour
W-2 employee position
Paid training and travel time between client appointments
Scheduled hours depend on client bookings and route needs.
What your day will look like
You’ll visit dogs in their homes for scheduled walks, potty breaks, fresh water, and some well-deserved attention. You’ll follow each dog’s care instructions and routines, including medication instructions when applicable, and send a friendly update to their family after each visit. Being on time matters. So does noticing when a dog seems uncomfortable, needs a slower pace, or could use a little extra reassurance.
You could be a great fit if you
Are reliable, punctual, and able to work independently during scheduled midday hours.
Have your own reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Are comfortable handling dogs with different sizes, personalities, and needs.
Stay organized, follow instructions, and communicate clearly with owner and clients.
Are comfortable walking in varying weather conditions.
Can pass a background check.
Qualifications
18 years of age or older
Prior experience with dog handling or pet care is preferred but not required; a genuine love for animals is essential
Knowledge of animal behavior and basic understanding of dog body language
Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members
Ability to manage multiple dogs safely and effectively in various environments
Own a smart phone with data plan for communicating via apps and text with clients and staff
Must live within the 27609 or 27615 zip codes
Hours & Scheduling
We’re gradually building our midday walking routes, so hours will be limited at first and will vary based on client bookings. This position does not guarantee a minimum number of hours each week. As such, this position should be treated as supplemental income. We’re looking for someone comfortable starting with a small schedule that can grow as new clients join. There’s room to grow as Southern Bark grows, with opportunities for wage review and advancement as your experience and responsibilities develop.
Interested? Email southernbarkhospitality@gmail.com with a brief introduction, your weekday availability, and any relevant experience. We’d love to hear what makes you a good fit for the dogs—and families—who will count on you.
