BARK BLVD is seeking a dynamic, results-driven General Manager to lead daily operations and drive overall business success. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for team performance, customer experience, and financial results, while ensuring safe, high-quality animal care in compliance with all applicable state and local regulations. The GM serves as the on-site leader and brand ambassador for BARK BLVD.
Position Overview
The General Manager oversees all boarding and daycare operations, ensures operational excellence, and builds a strong, accountable team culture. This role requires strong business acumen, sound judgment, and a passion for delivering exceptional pet care and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Safety
- Oversee daily boarding and daycare operations
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and facility standards
- Make final decisions regarding dog behavior, safety, and incidents
- Ensure vaccination records, medications, feeding instructions, and guest details are accurate and followed
Team Leadership
- Hire, train, schedule, and manage staff
- Align staffing with occupancy and labor targets
- Coach team performance and address issues promptly
- Foster a positive, professional, and accountable work culture
Customer Experience
- Own the full customer journey from inquiry to follow-up
- Resolve concerns professionally and efficiently
- Drive five-star Google reviews, repeat business, and referrals
- Represent the BARK BLVD brand with professionalism and integrity
Financial & Business Performance
- Manage labor efficiency, scheduling, and overtime
- Monitor occupancy, revenue, and controllable expenses
- Oversee payroll preparation, inventory, and daily operational controls
- Execute pricing strategies, promotions, and add-on services
- Report key performance metrics to ownership
Sales, Marketing & Growth
- Lead facility tours and dog evaluations
- Convert inquiries into customers
- Coach upselling and premium service adoption
- Support local marketing efforts and community partnerships
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of management experience in pet care, hospitality, retail, or service operations
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Working knowledge of labor management and cost control
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and peak periods
- Passion for animal care and exceptional customer experience
Success Measures: Occupancy rates, labor cost percentage, review performance, lead conversion and upsell rates, staff retention, and safety outcomes.
Schedule
- This position will require the flexibility to work Monday through Sunday as needed.
