Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dog Daycare Manager to oversee the daily dog daycare, enrichment, and boarding operations of our Yorkville, IL facility. This role is ideal for a strong leader who is highly organized, compassionate toward both pets and people, and deeply committed to providing a safe, structured, and enriching environment for dogs in our care. The Dog Daycaree Manager plays a key role in ensuring dogs receive appropriate supervision, stimulation, and individualized attention throughout their daycare and boarding stay.
Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage daily dog daycare and boarding operations, including playgroup structure, enrichment activities, feeding routines, rest periods, and boarding transitions
- Ensure all dogs are handled safely and humanely, with attention to behavior, temperament, and group dynamics
- Maintain high standards for canine enrichment, including physical activity, mental stimulation, and appropriate downtime
- Supervise, train, and support staff on proper dog handling, enrichment protocols, safety procedures, and customer service
- Create and manage employee schedules to ensure adequate coverage for daycare, boarding, and peak play times
- Hire, onboard, and develop team members with a strong focus on dog behavior awareness and enrichment-based care
- Order supplies and manage inventory related to dog care, enrichment tools, food, and facility needs
- Recruit new daycare and boarding clients and support business growth initiatives
- Maintain company goals related to labor, sales, growth, and overall facility performance
- Track key operational and care-related metrics and report regularly to top management
- Ensure a clean, safe, positive, and welcoming environment for dogs, clients, and staff at all times
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven leadership and people-management experience (dog daycare, boarding, or animal care industry strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of dog behavior, playgroup management, and enrichment principles
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy dog daycare environment
- Positive attitude with a hands-on, lead-from-the-front management style
- High level of compassion, patience, and care for both dogs and people
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
