Position Overview:
As a Dog Walker, you will provide independent, neighborhood-based dog walking and daytime pet care visits. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working autonomously, values reliability, and understands that exceptional pet care goes beyond just a walk—it’s about trust, awareness, and compassion.
We are currently hiring in multiple communities, including Germantown (20876), Potomac (20854), and Gaithersburg (20879).
Schedule:
- Commit to at least three weekday shifts (7:30 AM–2:00 PM)
- One weekend shift every other week, either: Morning: 7:00 AM–2:00 PM, or Evening: 3:00 PM–9:00 PM
- This role is primarily weekday dog walking with limited overnight pet sitting opportunities
Core Responsibilities
- Walk dogs and provide daytime pet care in client homes
- Manage multiple daily visits while maintaining punctuality and care quality
- Perform light home-care tasks related to pet care
- Make real-time decisions regarding pet safety, behavior, weather, and household situations
- Communicate visit updates through a mobile app, including photos and detailed notes
- Represent Outward Bound Hounds professionally in clients’ homes and neighborhoods
Qualifications
- Reliable transportation and a smartphone are required
- Comfortable working independently and entering client homes
- Strong communication, time-management, and decision-making skills
- Prior pet care or dog handling experience preferred, but not required
What We Offer:
- $18–$22 per hour
- Approx. $1,500–$2,400 per month, based on weekday shifts averaging 4–5 hours per day
- Paid training and ongoing support
