Position Overview
The Albany Pet Hotel is seeking an outgoing animal lover to join our animal care team as an Animal Care Handler. The ideal candidate enjoys working with dogs in a highly team-oriented environment, has excellent communication skills, is punctual, a self-starter, and is detail-oriented.
Schedule
- Shifts vary between 6:30 am to 4 pm, 9 am to 6:30 pm, and 9 am to 4 pm. During busy seasons, you may be asked to stay as late as 9 pm.
- Approximately 30 hours per week, with potential for additional hours during busy seasons
- Weekend and holiday availability is required
Job Tasks & Responsibilities
- Handle dogs of various ages, sizes, and temperaments
- Clean and sanitize kennels, play yards, and facility areas
- Set up kennels for incoming boarding pets
- Safely move dogs throughout the facility to and from play areas
- Perform general cleaning duties, including laundry, dishes, mopping, vacuuming, and stocking supplies
- Provide one-on-one playtime sessions and individual potty breaks
- Prepare and serve meals for daycare and boarding dogs
- Assist with additional tasks involving animal care or facility upkeep as needed
Requirements
- Reliable transportation required
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, squat, crawl, climb stairs, lift 30 pounds independently, and work outdoors in winter weather
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to take direction from management
- Must be reliable, punctual, proactive, and efficient
