Position Overview
- We’re hiring Animal Care Handlers to support both daycare and overnight operations.
- Candidates may indicate a preference for day shifts, overnight shifts, or flexibility to work both. You are not required to work all shifts.
- This is a part-time in-person role (approx. 20–25 hrs/week typical), with weekend and holiday availability required.
Schedules
- Day shifts: typically 6:30am–4pm, 9am–4pm, 9am–6:30pm (Sundays: 6:30–11:30am & 1:30–6:30pm). Ability to work until 9pm during peak season preferred.
- Overnight shifts: examples include 12am–6:30am and 6pm–12am on rotating nights; solo overnight supervision required.
- Applicants should state if they want day, overnight, or flexible availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle dogs (and other boarded pets) of various sizes/temperaments safely
- Supervise potty breaks, playgroups, and 1:1 sessions as assigned
- Clean and sanitize kennels, play yards, turfed areas, common spaces, laundry, dishes, mopping, and stocking supplies
- Set up kennels and prepare/serve meals per instructions
- Administer medications (oral, topical, insulin) when trained/approved
- Monitor pets (overnight includes watching security cameras and providing solo supervision)
- Observe and document physical/behavioral changes; log notes in Gingr/Slack
- Respond calmly to emergencies and follow protocols
- Assist with facility upkeep and other tasks as needed
Requirements
- At least 18 years old (overnight candidates preferred to have prior professional experience working overnight)
- Able to stand long periods, bend, squat, climb stairs, lift 30 lbs independently, and work outdoors in winter weather
- Strong communication, punctuality, ability to follow directions, and ability to work independently (overnights)
- Comfortable handling dogs and cats of all sizes and recognizing signs of illness/injury
- Willingness to learn pet care software (Gingr)
