About Us:
Metuchen Pet Club is a proud member of Pet Sitters International and the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. We are certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. Since 2018, Metuchen Pet Club has served Metuchen, Edison, and the surrounding New Jersey communities.
Schedule
- Dog walking and pet sitting schedules change week to week. Schedules are determined by client demand.
- We prefer candidates with consistent availability, with services scheduled within that availability.
- We do require staff to work at least one evening and one weekend per month.
- Extra consideration for candidates who have greater weekend availability and can work Friday and Saturday evening.
- Shifts start as early as 7:00am and can end as late as 8:30pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer in-home pet services: walks, feeding, and medication administration.
- Monitor pet health and behavior and report concerns to owners.
- Follow the client's instructions on pet routines and house protocols.
- Maintain communication with clients through post-visit updates and photos.
- Ensure home security and perform light house-sitting tasks: collect mail, water plants, and manage garbage.
- Perform cleaning duties, such as litter box maintenance and cleaning up after pets.
Requirements:
- Every employee must have empathy and compassion for animals.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with dog handling and a general understanding of dog behavior.
- Ability to care for various pets, including cats, dogs, small mammals, and reptiles.
- Physical ability to walk, lift, and manage stairs.
- Willingness to work in all four seasons.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in emergencies.
- The ability to work without supervision and excellent time management skills.

What we offer:
- Competitive pay starts at $16.25 per hour, plus client gratuity and bonus opportunities. Many staff members earn between $16.25 and $18 per hour.
- $500 to $700 a month
- During peak season, some staff may earn $20 or more per hour after working with the team for 90 days
- After 90 days, increased pay of $2 per visit on major holidays, for vacation visits.
- This role is designed to be p/t, and most staff work 10-20 hours weekly.
- Paid training with performance reviews and opportunities for advancement.
